OUR PROCESS
At IDI Inc., our goal is to make the design-build process an enjoyable one for our clients. Experience has shown us that knowledge of standard procedures helps clients feel comfortable for the duration of the project. Here’s how we work:
STEP 1- Consultation with Bianca
We get to know you, see your space and your goals for the project. During this meeting we provide you with direction for your project, recommendations and design advice. We also go through your requirements, budget, photo release waiver, timelines and more. Our Letter of Agreement will also be reviewed at this meeting.
STEP 2 - Signing of agreement, receipt of retainer and commencement of project
This is when we go through an outline of the scope of work, estimated design fees, estimated project timeline and the terms and conditions. Once all is approved, signed and the required fees are received we begin to work on the design plan and presentation.
STEP 3 - Trade Day | On-site measurements, photos and final criteria meeting
On Trade day we invite all the trades we will be working with for your project to come and discuss the scope of work, take measurements and photos. All trades take the information and compile estimates and quotes for their scope of work.
These estimates are then presented to the client during the presentation.
STEP 4 - Execution of floor plans and elevations, sourcing fabrics and furnishings
At this point we begin planning your project which starts with a design concept that is developed through renderings, sketches, elevations and color schemes. We work closely with our trades to make sure we get all the estimates for the project. We also get to source fabric, furnishings and fixtures. All this is put together to come up with and is presented to you at the next step.
STEP 5 - Presentation of estimates and furnishings/materials; collection of deposits
It's all about the details. We meet to go over all the details on your customized design plan. This includes everything we have been working on in step 4 is presented to you, we bring in samples, pictures of furniture selections, drawings, mood board, and more. Because we work together with our clients anything you would like incorporated to the design plan is also included to show you how it will all work together. Everything is laid out in a visually pleasing way that will help you imagine your finished space. Any adjustments needed are also done and revision of budget will be adjusted at this stage.
STEP 6 - Placement of orders
All purchase orders are created, we track and assess lead times, we note any backorders or discontinued items that may delay the project and make decisions on whether to reselect or not. We also watch closely to make sure that our projected timeline is adhered by all vendors.
STEP 7 - Review of budget
This is when we go through our budget to make sure we are still on track. If there were any change orders created due to client request of discontinued items we review and make sure we are all on the same page budget is still on track. This step is sometimes not necessary for smaller projects but we will still review and send email with budget to date.
STEP 8 - Initiation of construction and renovation
We start construction and follow up with trades to make sure everyone is on schedule. We make the necessary site visits to ensure processes are followed and work is completed on time.
STEP 9 - Installation period continues and receipt of orders
We receive all items ordered in our warehouse, we inspect for damages and store away till installation day. If any items arrived with damages, claims and reorders are done at this time.
STEP 10 - Furniture installation and styling
This is the most exciting part of the project, where we will deliver, install and style your home. Most of the installs are done on one day except for window coverings which will be installed on a different day and this is all communicated and scheduled with the you before hand.
STEP 11 - Client reveal
There's lots of excitement as we go through your finished space and you get to see it all put together, show you all the features and discuss care and go through all the warranty documentation.
STEP 12 - Deficiencies walk through
Depending on the project and how big the renovation was we might walk you through before styling is done to make sure everything is in excellent condition. This gives you the opportunity to point out any deficiencies that will need to be noted.
STEP 13 - Resolving deficiencies
Even though this step is usually not needed, we are human and mistakes will happens sometimes so if there is ever a need for anything to be resolved after determining the deficiencies we work with the trades to make sure everything is taken care of within 14 business days.
STEP 14 - Client closure meeting and presentation of final invoices
We meet to close the project, present any final invoices and make sure that you're happy with your new space.

STEP 15 - Presentation of Client Binder and Thank you
At the end of the closure meeting, we present you with a client binder that has everything to do with the project including product warranties.
